Today, we talk about a form of agriculture close to my heart!
Several years ago in Honaunau Hawaii, with the help of an awesome farmer (and great person!) Zac Holser, I installed a large aquaponics garden as part of my One Woman, One Acre, One Year project.
To prepare for this new adventure, my research led me to a book called “Aquaponic Gardening: A Step by Step Guide to Growing Fish and Vegetables Together”. This comprehensive masterpiece, written by Sylvia Bernstein, proved to be a powerful tool and became my primary ‘go to’ guide.
Sylvia’s book helped me understand the science, form and function, as well as dos and don’ts of aquaponics which resulted in my successfully growing high yield healthy vegetables and Tilapia without the intensive labor investment. And all nearly self-sustaining
So…you can imagine how thrilled I was when Sylvia agreed to share her wealth of knowledge with you in our interview today!!
Sylvia has dedicated herself to connecting people and plants through indoor, soil-less gardening products. She is especially passionate about bringing the super-productive gifts of hydroponics, and now aquaponics, to mainstream families and schools across America.
For those of you who already love her as much as I do and for those who are about to meet her for the first time, enjoy this inspiring interview with Sylvia Bernstein and have a lovely day!
